Allen Wayne Petersen

Allen W. Petersen, 64, Brandon, SD, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, unexpectantly from natural causes at his Brandon home.

Visitation will be 4-6pm, Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Heartland Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Life at 6pm. Burial will be 9am, Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at the Union Cemetery in Flandreau, SD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Union Gospel Mission or the Sioux Falls Humane Society in Allen’s memory.

Allen Wayne Petersen was born November 23, 1958, to Wayne Petersen and Marlene (Rothenbuehler) Ullom in Sioux Falls, SD. He graduated from Washington High School in 1977.

Allen worked various jobs in the Sioux Falls area. In 2007, he relocated to Brandon, SD, to be closer to family. He started a job at Pizza Ranch and worked there for 16 years.

Allen loved getting together with family on the weekends to play games. A lifelong favorite of his was Pinochle. Allen also enjoyed going on small road trips with family to the Black Hills and Minneapolis to attend Twins baseball games as sports were a large interest of his.

Allen is well known for his kindness and friendliness towards anyone who meets him. He will be dearly missed by family, friends, and his community. Allen will also be missed by his beloved cat, April, who was his loving companion for the last two years of his life.

Grateful for having shared his life are his father, Wayne Petersen, Wanamingo, MN; sister, Karen (Gene) Patterson, Ham Lake, MN, and brother, Ron (Renee) Ullom, Valley Springs, SD; sister-in-law, Elise Petersen, Fridley, MN; six nieces and nephews, Joshua and Ryan Patterson, Haley and Emily Ullom, and Melissa and Kyle Petersen.

Allen was preceded in death by his mother, Marlene Ullom; step-father, Marvin Ullom; and brother, Larry Petersen.
