Arlo “Andy” Anderson, 71, Valley Springs, died Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at home from health complications.
Visitation with family will be 5-7pm, Monday, August 6, 2018, at Heartland Funeral Home. A short time of sharing and Full Military Rites will follow at 7pm.
Arlo “Andy” Dean Anderson was born February 7, 1947 in Sioux Falls to LeRoy and Francis (Basche) Anderson. He was raised Sioux Falls and Kansas. He lived in Valley Springs from the age of 16. Andy was drafted to the Army and served in Vietnam. He married Rebecca Van Beek and they had two boys. He later married Marjorie McGary on February 21, 1985. He worked for Terrace Park Dairy in their body shop. He later worked for Asphalt Surfacing and then as a local truck driver before retiring in 2009.
Andy belonged to the VFW and the American Legion. He loved motorcycles and raced. He enjoyed hanging-out with people and listening to music. Working on cars was a favorite pastime. He also enjoyed staying at home, watching old movies and eating good food. He loved his wife and family dearly.
Andy will be missed by his wife, Marge; his five children, Scott (Katrina) Anderson, Sioux Falls, Mark Anderson, Brandon, Bonnie Burr, Brandon, Sherri Burr, Brandon, and Tarl Else; eight grandchildren, BreAnn, Roschelle, April, Cierra Jo, Jordon, Colton, Jessalynn, and Jacob; seven great grandchildren; and one sister, Avis Blumer, Beresford, SD.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Francis; three brothers, Jerry, Orville, and Stan; and one sister, Lois.
