Arlyn Bruce Hamann

January 31, 1951 – September 29, 2024

Arlyn B. Hamann, 73, Sioux Falls, SD, died Sunday, September 29, 2024, at the VA Medical Center, from a battle with cancer.

Per Arlyn’s wishes, he will be cremated with a Celebration of Life at a later date. Those wishing to celebrate his life are welcome to do so in any way that feels right to them. Arlyn’s family thanks all their friends and family for their love and support.

Arlyn Bruce Hamann was born on January 31, 1951, in Rock Valley, IA to Fritz and Hendrena (Van Der Naald) Hamann. He met his wife, Debbie, in 1982 and they united in marriage in 1985. They spent 39 years together until his passing on Sunday evening.

Arlyn served his country in Vietnam from 1971-1975, on the USS John Hancock and had an honorable discharge. Arlyn was a working-class man. He worked many years at Thermal Company and eventually worked for the City of Sioux Falls, along with various other endeavors.

Arlyn enjoyed many of the simpler things of life. He loved to grill on a regular basis and spend time with his family.

Left to cherish Arlyn are his wife, Debbie, Sioux Falls; his children Joshua (Abigail) Hamann, Sioux Falls, and Robert (Tracy) VerMaas, Sioux Falls; grandchildren, Andrew, Shaun, Zachary, and Maxwell; great-granddaughter, Isabella; siblings, Dale Hamann, Rock Valley, IA, Bill Hamann, Rock Valley, IA, Karl (Linda) Hamann, Portland, OR, Linda (Jerry) Gullickson, Dickinson, ND, and Berdella Hamann, Des Moines, IA.

Arlyn was preceded in death by his parents, Fritz and Hendrena Hamann; four brothers, Terry Hamann, Ron Hamann, Robert Hamann, and Frederick Hamann; and a sister-in-law, Francis Hamann.
