Annette (Gustad) Norberg, 85, formerly of Highlands Ranch, CO, passed away at Sanford USD Medical Center, Sioux Falls, SD, on February 12, 2024.

A Memorial Service will be held later this Spring at Dalesburg Baptist Church, rural Beresford.  Please check back for updates on dates and times.

Annette Gustad was born in Vermillion, SD, on July 4, 1938, to Ben and Adena (Anderson) Gustad of Centerville, SD. She lived the farm life for 18 years and graduated from Centerville High School in 1956.

Annette’s career began in banking following graduation, at Northwest Security National Bank in Sioux Falls, for 15 years. She then moved to Denver, CO, in anticipation of her marriage to Carl Norberg, on June 5, 1971. She continued her banking career in management in Denver for another 30 years. She then hung up her banking cap and started as a part-time receptionist for 15 years at the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association in Highlands Ranch, CO.

Annette was known for her kind and no-nonsense personality, coupled with a great sense of humor. She was a beloved friend to many.

Annette found faith and community at Dalesburg Baptist Church in SD, and St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Highland Ranch. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, traveling with Carl, music, and cheering for the Denver Broncos, Rockies, and Nuggets. Annette had a special place in her heart for her Miniature Schnauzers. Life in the “Mile High City” agreed with Annette, and she considered Colorado “home.”

Annette is survived by her sister, Karen (Jerry) Swangel; niece, Lana Shogren; and brother-in-law, Bob Poindexter.

Annette was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Norberg; her parents; sister, Jane Poindexter; and her niece, Shelli Washel.
