Visitation will be Wednesday, October 29, 2014, from 5-7pm, at Heartland Funeral Home, Brandon, SD, with family present. A short service will begin at 7pm. A graveside service will be held at 11am, Saturday, November 1, at Jeffers Cemetery, Jeffers, MN.
Brian Lynn Thomas was born August 21, 1966, in Mankato, MN, to James and Sandra (Wallace) Thomas. He was raised first in the Pipestone area and then he move to and graduated from Jeffers High School in Jeffers, MN. He attended Pipestone VoTech for automotive. On April 27, 1991, Brian married Kay Schelhaas in Pipestone and the couple moved to the Sioux Falls area where they reaised their two sons, Darrick and Zach. Brian worked in several areas of the auto field. He was a mechanic, sold cars, and even was a repo agent for a while. Unfortunately, health issues forced him to leave his job and work only part-time.
Brian enjoyed cars, Harleys, and hanging out with his sons, friends and family. He loved holidays and reunions just visiting and being together. Whether it was teasing his “little” brothers, or spending time with his nieces and nephews, riding motorcycles with Darrick, or doing car stuff with Zach, he loved his family. He cherished a bike trip to Sturgis with his friend, Lanny O’Neal. Brian also loved to go “picking” at various thrift stores, consignment shops, and antique stores looking for treasures.
Sadly, Brian, 48, died Friday, October 24, 2014, at his home.
Brian will be deeply missed by his two sons, Darrick (Danielle) Thomas and Zach Thomas, Brandon; his parents, James and Sandra Thomas, Windom, MN, two brothers, Brad (Tami) Thomas, Cokato, MN and Ben (Amber) Thomas, Jeffers, MN; six nieces and nephews, Katerina, Bianca, Triton, Gavin, Brienna, and Ryan; special friend, Millie Lovejoy; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.
Brian was preceded in death by two infant brothers, James Fay and Ronald Lee.
A memorial has been established in Brian’s honor.
