Corey A. Johansen, 24, Valley Springs, died Friday, December 23, 2016, in a car accident, near Valley Springs.
Visitation with family will be 5-7pm, Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at Heartland Funeral Home, with a short time of sharing at 7pm. Funeral Services will be 1pm, Wednesday, December 28, also at Heartland Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
Corey Al Johansen was born December 5, 1992, in Sioux Falls, to Terry and Shelly (Hagstrom) Johansen. He attended and graduated from Brandon Valley High School in 2011. Corey worked for the Skyzone and more recently, sorted mail for US Postal Service, in Sioux Falls.
Corey was a quick witted person with an answer for everything. He really enjoyed working out and lifting at the gym. He also played basketball with his friends. Corey loved his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys.
Corey will be deeply missed by his parents, Shelly (Mike Peterson) Johansen, Valley Springs, and Terry (Mo) Johansen, Garretson; two brothers, Zach (Alicia Hibbison) Hagstrom, Brandon, and Derek Meeks, Valley Springs; and five step-siblings, Nikki Turner, Kasey and Kendra Kleven, Scott Rothenbuehler, and Bynandre Peterson; and many cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Corey’s honor.

The highlite of my work night was meeting up with Cory and talking football. He will be sorely missed by us all out there. My deepest sympathies to his entire family.
