Dale Alan Schrick

October 21, 1943 ~ January 23, 2022

Dale A. Schrick, 78, Hartford, died Sunday, January 23, 2022, at Sanford Foundation Cottage following a valiant battle with cancer.

Visitation with family present will be 5-7pm, Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Abiding Savior Free Lutheran Church, (4100 S. Bahnson Ave., Sioux Falls), with a Funeral Service on Friday, January 28, 2022, at 11:00am.

Dale Alan Schrick was born October 21, 1943, to Richard and Gertrude (Harms) Schrick, in George, IA. He was born and raised in George and graduated high school from George before going to the Army.  Dale married Lynn Knutson on November 19, 1966. To this union, they had one son, Todd. In 1964, Dale moved to Sioux Falls, where he worked for Firestone for 29 years, T.O. Haas for 14 years. Upon retirement, he moved to Wall Lake.

He loved breakfast and coffee with friends, helping with construction and handyman projects. Dale loved NASCAR and Sprint Car racing. Kyle Larson was his favorite. He also enjoyed attending his grandsons’ sporting events and pheasant hunting. He loved going out dancing with Donna, often on Friday or Saturday nights.

Dale will be deeply missed by his special friend, Donna Devries; son, Todd (Susan) Schrick, Sioux Falls; grandsons, Jordan, Sioux Falls, and Travis, Sioux Falls; siblings, Ben (Roxanne) Schrick, Lafayette, LA, Dennis (Gracia) Schrick, George, IA, and Diane Schrick, Northfield, MN; sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Schrick, Richfield, MN; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Gertrude (Harms) Schrick; brother, Richard Schrick; and sister, Martha Schrick.

The family would like the staff at the VA Hospital, the Sanford USD Medical Center, and the Sanford Foundation Hospice Cottage for the excellent care and service.

    So sorry for your loss Todd. I think I met you in my shop one time with your Dad. I sharpen stuff for him. I will really miss seeing him and shooting the Bull with him. Lots of stories between us serving in the Army but in different years. Dale was one of a kind that you knew where he stood. He felt like a brother to me. God Bless.
