Danny Wayne Kuhnert

October 20, 1958 ~ June 19, 2015

Danny Wayne Kuhnert, 56, Sioux Falls, died Friday, June 19, 2015, at the Dougherty Hospice Home after a courageous battle with cancer.

A family visitation will be 5-7pm, Monday, June 22, 2015, at Heartland Funeral Home with Full Military Honors at 7:00pm. A private inurnment at Beaver Valley Lutheran Church Cemetery will happen at a later date.

Danny Wayne Kuhnert was born October 20, 1958, at Valley Springs, SD to Howard and Ruth (Overbe) Kuhnert as one of their eleven children. They resided in the Rowena area where Danny attended school at Brandon Valley and then Washington High School. He served in the Army after school and then came back to the Sioux Falls where he worked as a handyman for the next 25 years at several different companies. Health issues forced Danny to stop working in 2010.

Danny loved to spend time with his family. He was a kind, soft spoken, shy man that smiled a lot but didn’t talk much. Rather, he passed time building model ships and airplanes and he loved fishing. He was also proud of his military service.

Danny is survived by his nine siblings, Chuck Kuhnert, Rowena, Ken Kuhnert, Brandon, Sharon Bakke, Brandon, Larry (Marlene) Kuhnert, Brandon, Ardis (Doug) Weirenga, Sioux Falls, Richard (Darlene) Kuhnert, Northfield, MN, Judy (special friend David Kruger) Middlen, Sioux Falls, Vicky Sorgatz, Duncan, OK, and Rick (Misty) Kuhnert, Brandon; and many nieces and nephews, Brad, Mike, Brenda, Gary, Jeff, Tammy, David, Chad, Cody, Tara, Scott, Darin, Travis, Tracey, Shirley, Nicole, Frank, Kathy, Kelly, Kasey, Corey, Casey, and Jasmine.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Ruth Kuhnert, sister, Carolyn Kruger, brother-in-law, Melvin Kruger, sister-in-law, Gloria Kuhnert, and brother-in-law, Dick Bakke.
