David John Lange

July 4, 1956 ~ December 9, 2019

David J. Lange, 63, Brandon, entered into his Heavenly home on Monday, December 9, 2019, at the Palisades Manor in Garretson.

Memorial services will be 4pm at the Trent Baptist Church, Trent, SD, with visitation from 2-4pm, Saturday, December 14, 2019.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in David’s honor.

David John Lange was born July 4, 1956, in Sioux Falls, SD to John and Harriet (McPherson) Lange.  Upon graduation from Brandon Valley High School, he attended tech school.  On September 29, 1979, he married Valerie Pearson at the Beaver Valley Church.  To this union, two children were born; Katie and Sara. The family lived in the Valley Springs area until 1993, when they moved to Flandreau.  The family returned to Brandon, SD, in 1997.   David worked for Sioux Steel selling grain bins to farmers.

David was a member of Trent Baptist Church, where he was involved as a Sunday School teacher, youth group leader, Vacation Bible School leader, teacher of youth at Camp Judson Family Camp I, Nitelight ministry (2001-2004), Deacon, and Trustee. He loved the Lord Jesus and wanted others to meet the Savior also. Whenever there was a job to be done, David was willing and able to lend a hand.

David always enjoyed making friends wherever he went, (even if it was in a buffet line).  When he was not working, David could be found feeding cattle or helping with fencing to help neighbors and friends.  You could often find him reading a good western or a mystery.  He really loved to watch old TV shows including John Wayne movies.  Even in his last weeks, David found great peace and calmness watching Adam12 and Emergency.

David will be deeply missed by his two children, Katie (Matt) Miller, and Sara (John Sundberg) Lange; four grandchildren, McKenzie, David, Wesley and Luke; one sister, Linda (Dallas) Grantberg, Valley Springs; and many nieces, nephews, special neighbor, Tara Lynn and daughter, Reagan, along with many other friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Valerie.
