Debra M. Rupp, 70, Sioux Falls, SD, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at the Dougherty House in Sioux Falls.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 2:00–5:00 p.m., at Key Largo on Lake Shetek near Slayton, MN. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate Debra’s life. Guests are encouraged to share a warm, funny, or special story about Debra, which will be treasured by her family for years to come.
Debra Marie Krohn was born on February 25, 1956, in Slayton, MN, to Yvonne and William “Bill” Krohn. She grew up in Slayton and Pipestone, where she enjoyed riding horses, rescuing baby animals, and developing her natural eye for fashion and design. She attended Southwest Minnesota State University and later worked in retail clothing, bookkeeping, and accounting.
Debra spent her later years in Marshall, MN, before moving into the home of her daughter, Alexa, in Sioux Falls, SD, where she spent the final chapter of her life surrounded by family.
Debra is lovingly survived by her daughters, Jessica Collins and Alexa (Alexander) LaPlante; her cherished grandchildren, Grant Mills, Paxton Collins, and Jett LaPlante; her siblings, Pierce (Irene) Krohn, Nancy Jurrens, Norene Rupp, Scott (Ellen) Krohn, and Jason Krohn; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Debra was preceded in death by her parents, William “Bill” and Yvonne Krohn; and her brother, Terry Krohn.
Debra will be remembered for her gentle nature, compassionate heart, unwavering faith, and deep love for her family, friends, and animals. Her kindness, warmth, and sweethearted spirit will live on in the many lives she touched.
