John Matthias Lindner

John M. Lindner, 87, Sioux Falls, died Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls.
A Visitation with family present will be 2-4pm, Sunday, July 17, 2016, at Heartland Funeral Home, with Military Honors at 3:45pm.
John Matthias Lindner was born September 30, 1928, in Maitland, Florida, to Matthias and Gertrude (Merches) Lindner. He graduated from Bancroft High School in Bancroft, SD in 1947. John was in the Army from 1950-1951 when he was medically discharged for injury. John married Clarona Olson on February 5, 1951, in Colorado Springs, CO. He spent 25 years working at SMC Schwartz prior to retirement.
John loved to gamble, hunt, travel, and read Louis Lamour books. He had an infectious sense of humor. He loved being a father and grandfather, but above all else he loved being a great-grandfather and was more proud of his family than any man could be.
John is survived by his wife, Clarona; five children, Johnnie, Sioux Falls, James (Sue), Williams Port, PA, Joseph, Sioux Falls, Donna, Sioux Falls, and Richard, Oldham, SD; nine grandchildren, Tiffany, Heidi, James, Nicole, Katie, Jeremy, Joseph, and Cody; and eleven great-grandchildren, Sage, Caden, Attalyn, Aiden, Chaley, Blade, Ellise, Daisy, Amy, Ashley, and Jesse.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Matthias and Gertrude (Merches) Lindner, three brothers, five sisters, and two grandchildren, Heather and Jeremy John.
