My wish is your in that special place with Your Mom and Dad, hopefully my dad who you helped me take care of in his time of need and others you loved along life’s journey. • Katy Blanchar says:

It was a shock to find out about Julie thru Social Media-Facebook, but I am glad that I heard it before she passed. We may have had our differences in living together, but I cherished the memory of seeing her this past Feb.,’15 when she was in town to visit family and do her taxes. She looked HAPPY, and felt GOOD! I know that she was looking forward to this wked. in New York with the Singles Group-she enjoyed the travel and meeting new people. I will miss her smile, her quick wit, her compassion for both humans and animals, her ability to fix things, and then sell them. We did many a rummage sale and Flea Markets together-she always out-sold me. It is a shock to loose someone without having the ability to say “goodbye” before they pass. However, being a fellow nurse, I am glad that she did not suffer and/or linger. So, goodbye Julie-you were a dear friend. To Dan and Family-I look forward to celebrating her life. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Please call if you need any help. Her memories will live on forever in each of you. Sincerely, Katy Blanchar, Sx. Fls., SD

I was very saddened to hear of Julie’s passing. Several years ago we went on a cruise together beginning in Barcelona and on to numerous stops in Italy. Julie, being the world traveler that she was, orchestrated our stay in Barcelona and showed me one of the most beautiful and interesting cities I have ever visited. Almost didn’t even want to go there, but with Julie’s insistence I went and was so happy I did. Rest in peace Julie and know that you had so many people who loved and cared about you.

  • Beth Newhart says:

  • Claudia Stevens Peterson says:

I am so saddened to hear of Julie’s death. She and I attended LPN school together in Sioux Falls and spent a lot of time at the lake and her parents home in SF. We met up again when I moved to TX and she was in San Antonio. She attended our wedding in Yellowstone and then we lost contact for several years, reconnecting about 8 years ago on Facebook. When we were in LPN school she said she wanted to be a traveling nurse and indeed she did and traveled all over the world for leisure as well. I so much enjoyed Julie and treasure the wonderful memories of her. It is a tragedy for her to be gone so young and I will truly miss her. My condolences to her family who I know she adored. Rest in Peace Julie, Love you.

  • rest in peace Julie…helping others is a gift and a privelege.

  • Kristi Summers says:

Back in the 90’s Julie and my dad (David Sorlye) briefly dated but remained good friends thru the years until my dad passed away in 2005. She was one of the only girlfriends I approved of lol. She has always kept in touch with me since then. She was a great friend. Thru my dad she also knew my Uncle Dennis Sorlye who were both into the same antique stores. She would follow up on our family thru him. Also my cousin Stanley Randall worked together in the hospital many years ago. My family and I are sending lots of prayers and strength. Julie will always have a special place in my heart. She was quite a character but that’s what made you love her.

  • Beverley Laurila says:

I am a new friend from the November 2014 cruise and we met at the meet and greet in Miami. We shared easy conversation, fun and laughs. Julie’s razor sharp wit was evident early on. My heartfelt prayers to all of Julie’s family and friends. From a fellow nurse in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada.

Julie, I have always cherished the postcards you’ve sent me from your many trips. They have moved with me from apartment to apartment and are typically collaged in my kitchen. You have always been an inspiration for me to see and experience the world and its beauty. I will miss our lunchs with my mom and visiting the flee market to see you. I was happy to help last summer with moving and organizing. I promise to make something amazing from the glass conductors you gave me. I can’t make it to Sioux Falls tomorrow but will celebrate your life here in Minneapolis. I miss you pretty lady!

  • Mary Townley says:

I still can’t believe our adventures are over. Julie and I have seen a lot of the world together, and I enjoyed every mile. She never let the grass grow under her feet. She’s been more places than most people will see in a long, long lifetime. I really, really miss her. I’ll miss her edgy humor, her great big heart and fun loving nature.

Anyone who knew Julie knew how she valued her family and friends. She talked so much about her family, I felt I knew them all. She was always sharing pictures of all of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you. She was one of the special ones.

  • Peter Peacock says:

Only met Julie once in England but stayed in touch on the net. Lovely person had a touch of class. RIP Julie.

  • Alicia Gordon says:

I’m not sure if I met Jules on the 2003 Halloween cruise or the historic cruise to No Where Feb 2004. Jules made a lot of friends before each cruise because of her quick wit on the Yahoo cruise pages. I was surprised when I met her in person and she was so quiet. I know she was a loving caring nurse, even though we lovingly called her Nurse Ratchet. The last time I saw her was in paradise, Turks and Caicos. Jules I know you made it to heaven, please watch over my Gussie (dachshund) until I get there. I’m sure Wally and your parents were waiting for you at the pearly gates. Please watch over us all and send us a funny sign that you are still around us. You were a special person the world lost way too soon, you are truly missed.
