Lawrence Edward Monger was born July 8, 1933, to Huldur Sr. and Louise (Peters) Monger in Sherman, SD. Lawrence grew up in Sioux Falls, where he attended school. After graduating, he began working construction and plumbing jobs for various companies. On July 2, 1953, Lawrence was united in marriage to Joyce Baker, in Sioux Falls, SD. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Chuck and Don. The family resided in Brandon and Sioux Falls throughout the years, always members of Brandon Lutheran Church. Faith, family and community were important to Lawrence. He will be remembered as the early morning greeter at church, who was always there to open the door and shake hands with everyone who entered. Lawrence was a member of the Brandon Volunteer Fire Department for over 14 years. He was forever a gentleman with a strong work ethic which has been passed down to his family.

Gramps had the best lawn for miles. He was always outside watering, mowing, or shoveling. Over the years, he usually had moved enough snow around to make the biggest snow piles where his grandkids could go sledding! He made ice skating ponds, and homemade swimming pools, he loved to see his family smile. You could always count on a wave from Gramps when you drove by. He never wanted to miss anyone! If you stopped to visit, Lawrence loved to talk and wasn’t afraid to share his opinion.

Lawrence will be deeply missed by his wife Joyce; one son, Chuck (Mary) Monger, Sioux Falls; three grandchildren, Laura (Dana) Stockland, Casey Monger, and Jacob Monger, all of Sioux Falls; two great-grandchildren, Charlie and Ben; and one sister, Edna Colwill, Sioux Falls.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Donnie; and two brothers, Huldur Jr. and Donald.
