Lori Lyn Durell, 58, Marion, SD, ENTERED AVERA HOSPICE HOUSE IN SIOUX FALLS SOUTH DAKOTA IN NOVEMBER OF 2015. LORI WAS ADAMENT THAT SHE WOULD BE ESCORTED ON THE ARM OF JESUS CHRIST THROUGH THE GATES OF HEAVEN WHEN HER DEATH BECAME CERTAIN. THAT BECAME A REALITY ON MARCH 24, 2016. OUR HEARTS WILL BE FOREVER BROKEN WITH THE LOSS OF OUR LOVELY LORI LYN DURELL.

Lori Lyn Durell WAS BORN TO WILLIAM AND DARLENE STENBAKKEN DURELL ON SEPT 2, 1957. SHE ATTENDED ELEMENTARY, JR. HIGH AND HIGH SCHOOL ALL IN GLASGOW, GRADUATING WITH THE 1975 CLASS. LORI EARNED A BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN CHILD DEVELOPMENT FROM M.S.U. IN BOZEMAN AND LATER, EARNED A BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN FAMILY CONSUMER SCIENCE FROM S.D.S.U. IN BROOKINGS, SOUTH DAKOTA. SHE TAUGHT SCHOOL IN BOTH WYOMING AND CALIFORNIA. SHE MARRIED MAHMOUD AMER FROM CAIRO EGYPT AND FROM THIS UNION, 2 CHILDREN WERE BORN. THEY WERE LATER DIVORCED. THEY REMAINED LIFE-LONG FRIENDS AND HE AND HIS PRESENT WIFE, NADIA, WERE INSTRUMENTAL IN PROVIDING FOR HER HOUSING AND CARE AFTER SHE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH ALS OR LOU GERIG’S DISEASE.

LORI IS SURVIVED BY HER 2 DAUGHTERS, SARAH AND NADIA, HER EX-HUSBAND, MAHMOUD, HER FATHER AND MOTHER, 1 SISTER, MICHELENE FURA (DAN) GREAT FALLS MT., 3 BROTHERS, LONNIE (SANDY), EUSTIS FL.,DAN (LENORE) GLASGOW, GARY (PAULA) BILLINGS MT AND SEVERAL NIECES, NEPHEWS, AUNTS, UNCLES AND COUSINS.

IN ACCORDANCE WITH HER WISHES, NO FUNERAL IS PLANNED. IN LATER SUMMER, A CELEBRATION OF HER LIFE WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE FAMILY FARM AT WHATLEY.

LORI IS PROCEDED IN DEATH BY HER MATERNAL GRANDPARENTS, BEN AND MYRTLE STENBAKKEN OF NASHUA AND HER PATERNAL GRANDPARENTS LON AND CLARA DURELL OF NASHUA.
THE FAMILY WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL PRAYER WARRIERS FOR THEIR STEADFAST EFFORTS, AND ALL WHO SENT CARDS, TELEPHONED AND SENT FLOWERS TO LORI, ESPECIALLY HER WONDERFUL CLASSMATES. YOU ABSOLUTELY AMAZED LORI WITH YOUR CONCERN AND GENEROSITY.

    Miss. Darell was an amazing loving women. Who helped me in high school all 4 years. So sad to hear of her passing. I loved her with all my heart. She will be truly missed. My prayers are with the family
