Marlys Dawn Riddle

Marlys D. Riddle, 83, Sioux Falls, SD, formerly Renner, SD, died Sunday, September 29, 2019, at Bethany Home, Sioux Falls, after a short battle with lung cancer.
Visitation will be at 12:00, Noon, Monday, October 7, 2019, at Heartland Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Heartland. Inurnment will follow at Hills of Rest Cemetery, Sioux Falls.
Marlys Dawn Rose was born June 15, 1936, in Watertown, SD to Viola and William Rose. After moving to Sioux Falls, Marly graduated from Washington High School in 1954. Marlys married Richard Hartsook and had one daughter, Laura and later married Robert Riddle. They had one daughter Christina Riddle, and two step children, Michael and Sheryl. Marlys and Bob celebrated 50 years of marriage April 1, 2016, before Bob’s passing April 5, 2016. Marlys held many jobs including a nursing assistant, executive assistant for an insurance company, security at the airport, plus she was widely known for her 18 year career in Avon holding three territories.
Marly loved Elvis, ice cream, shopping, movies and animals. She always had more than one cat and dog plus horses. She enjoyed staying tan year-round, reading and thriller movies. Marlys could barely wait until spring to see her beloved Robins. In the summer months, she spent nearly all her free time at her summer home, Lake Brant. Marlys lived for the time she spent with her granddaughter, Amber, and was very close to Amber and Tina. The three of them would always find fun in everything and laughed a lot. Marly and Bob wintered in Harlingen, TX, for a few years before Bob became ill.
Marlys is survived by two daughters, Laura (Dale) Pederson, Ardmore, AL, and Christina Riddle, Sioux Falls; stepson, Michael (Marsha) Peterson, Sioux Falls, and stepdaughter, Sheryl Peters, Tuscon, AZ; and granddaughter, Amber (Nathaniel) Bloodgood, Sioux Falls.
Marlys was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; one brother, Bill; and her parents.
