Elaine M. (Peterson) Nytroe, 87, of Brandon, died Friday, June 24, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Center in Sioux Falls.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Heartland Funeral Home in Brandon with Pastor Dennis Bossman officiating. Visitation will begin at 3 pm, Monday, June 27, also at Heartland Funeral Home, with family present from 6 pm until 8pm. Internment will be at West Nideros Lutheran Cemetery, rural Crooks, SD.

Elaine May Peterson was born to Henry M Peterson and Ann (Lewin) Peterson on November 10, 1923 in Hartford. She attended Johnson School, Hartford and Lyons High School. She married Kermit G. Nytroe on December 16, 1941.

She was a long time resident of Brandon. Her working career was first and foremost mother and grandmother. She also worked for Sunshine Foods Bakery for 25 years. She loved camping, fishing, music, dancing, flowers and playing cards.

Grateful for sharing her life are her children; Bonnie (Gene) Shumaker, Sioux Falls, Beverly (Rick) Blue, Sioux Falls, Bruce (Cathy) Nytroe, Brandon, Barbara (James) Schartz, Sioux Falls, Brenda Lape, Brandon, and Dwane (Faye) Peterson of Kelowna, British Columbia; Grandchildren; Dwane, Lori, Leisha, Dianne, David, Linda, Chad, Rich, Paul, Jeremy, Shawn, Jared, Becky and Brandon; Great-Grandchildren; Alex, Patrick, Tony, Shayla, Jessica, Jamal, Richard, Lauren, Darian, Spencer, Luke, Lexi, Brandi, Jaxon, Jasper and Hayden; Great-Great-Grandchild; Kylie

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; Henry and Ann (Lewin) Peterson, her husband, Kermit, one daughter, Betty Dansman; one great-granddaughter, Sierra Peterson; one brother, Robert Peterson, and one sister, Marjorie Carpenter.

7/1/66 – 6/20/11

Marilyn Coleen Powell was born July 1, 1966, to Doug Powell and Jean Rouse in Ft. Pierce, FL. She attended school and was raised in the Ft. Pierce area. She also married Darryl Noel on April 8, 1989 in Ft. Pierce. They moved around to several parts of the south including Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, Kansas, and South Dakota. Marilyn, being a creative and crafty sort, worked at her favorite retail store, Hobby Lobby. She also became a day care provider and teacher. Marilyn also had a huge passion for experimental cooking. Darryl and family were often subjected to many of her wonderful creations!

Marilyn, 44, of Sioux Falls, died Monday, June 20, 2011, at her home after courageous battle with cancer.

Memorial services will be held at 1pm, Friday, June 24, 2011, at her home, in Sioux Falls, SD.

She is survived by her husband, Darryl, a son, Robert, and a daughter, Danielle, all of Sioux Falls, SD; mother, Jean and (John) (Rouse) Wellington, Ft. Pierce, FL; father Doug, Okeechobee, FL and stepmother, Donna Powell, Pensacola, FL; four sisters, Juanita (Robert) Fulford, Sioux Falls, SD, Samantha (Jerry) Graff, Ft. Pierce, FL, Mandy Yates, Ft. Pierce, FL, and Beth Conover, Seattle, WA; and one brother, Danny (Becky) Yates, Ft. Pierce, FL; parents-in-law, Richard and Sharon Noel, Berryville, AR; brothers-in-law, David (Amie) Noel of Indiana and Dana (Trish) Noel, Pocahontas, AR; sister-in-law, Dani (Bennie) Melton, Kingsland, GA; cousins, Joy and Tom Price, Berryville, AR; maternal grandparents, Clarence and Helen Hazellief, Vero Beach, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her dad, Samuel Yates.

Harry F. Kluever, 86, originally of Okebena, MN, died Thursday, June 16, 2011, at home, in Valley Springs, SD.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, June 25, 2011, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Okabena, MN with Reverend Dan Deardorf officiating.

Harry Ferdinand Kluever was born February 11, 1925 in Russell, MN. He was the son of Harry Kluever Sr. and Emma (Kramer) Kluever. He was raised on a farm near Worthington and when he was 15 years old his father passed away and he took over farming.

He was united in marriage with Elvera Middlestadt on October 1, 1944 in Worthington MN. Following their marriage, the couple farmed in Nobles County, MN for six years until moving to a farm in west Heron Lake Township. In 1955 they moved to an acreage near Okabena, MN and they bought 80 acres in farmland which he still has today.

Harry loved farming and was happiest on his tractor. He worked in the local co-op for many years. For 30 years Harry drove bus for the Okabena Public School System. His true passion was being around his 2 girls and grandchildren, even being tired from the day he would always find time to play with his girls. His grandchildren remember grandpa playing Barbie’s with them, building a playhouse and go-cart, going fishing down at the creek, building a mound of snow with his tractor for sledding. Harry was a very selfless person always willing to help out others.

In his early years he enjoyed being down at his cabin in Arnolds Park, Iowa, with his daughters, dancing on Friday nights with his wife and friends, and playing cards. In his better years he enjoyed traveling in his RV with his wife and visiting his daughters and grandchildren. Harry passed away on June 16, 2011 with his daughters by his side. He was 86 years old. He can now Plow the Fields of Heaven.

Those left to cherish his memories are his daughter and son in law, Deb and Randy Baumann of Valley Springs, SD, his daughter Diana Curry of Spencer IA.; Sister in law Jeannie and husband Eugene Schmitz, nephew Robert Schmitz; Grandchildren, Bridget and husband Brandon of Sibley IA, Jessica and husband Joel of Nampa ID, Nathan of Tea SD, Heather and husband Mitch of Sioux Falls SD, Ashley Baumann of Valley Springs SD, Krystle Baumann of Valley Springs SD, Shon and wife Jessica of Spencer IA, Joshua of Spencer IA; and Five Great Grandchildren, Bryce, Cade, Ethan, Lauren, Tyler, and 2 great grand baby girls due in July.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Elvera, two sisters, and his parents.

10/25/1935 – 6/13/2011

Dora Rosa Tate, 75, of Winner, SD, died Monday, June 13, 2011 at the Avera Dougherty Hospice Home in Sioux Falls, after a short battle with cancer.

Memorial services will be held at 11pm, Saturday, June 18th, 2011, in Winner at the Winner United Methodist Church.

Dora Rosa Chappell was born September 25, 1935, in Roscoe, SD, to Clarence and Emma (Landfried) Chappell. She was raised and educated in the area and graduated valedictorian of her high school class. On June 5, 1955, Dora married Robert Tate in Forestburg, SD. Six children were born to this union. Dora went on to Huron College to get her Bachelors degree as a teacher. The family moved to Lemmon, SD where she taught for 10 years. In 1972, the family again moved to Winner, SD. Dora then found work in an insurance office. She later worked for the SD Dept. of Social Services.

Dora was very active in and a member of the Eastern Star as well as her churches. She and Robert were Lay Speakers for the United Methodist Church and trainers which allowed them to serve and travel throughout the ND/SD United Methodist Conference. Dora was currently a member of the Winner UMC.

Dora is survived by her five daughters, Karen Tate, Mesa, AZ, Doreen (Dennis) Lechner, Jasper, IN, Sheryl Tate, Sioux Falls, Roberta (Bo) Webb, Clarksville, TN, and Patricia (Buzz) Long, Salem, SD; 11 grandchildren, Nichole Lechner, Becky Nankivel, David Boyer, Matthew Martin, Jonathan Martin, Todd Tate, James Webb, Josh Webb, Rory Long, Brodie Long, and Kelsey Long; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Alta Chappell, Jeraldine Van Bliet, both of West Sacremento, CA, Nina Nelson-Barclay, North Edwards, CA and 1 brother, Warren (Irina Troyanova) Chappell, Pierre, SD

She was preceded in death by her spouse, Robert Tate, her parents, Clarence and Emma (Landfried) Chappell, and one son, Doug Tate, and one grandson, Joseph Long.

5/4/53 – 6/10/11

Gary Houseweart, 58, of Sioux Falls, died Friday, June 10, 2011, after a lengthy illness at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Gary was survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Sioux Falls; one son, Joshua of Denver, CO; and one daughter, Adrianna Houseweart, of Reno, NV; and one grandchild, Marcus O’Keeffe of Sioux Falls.

1/30/50 – 6/7/11

Elaine Marie Stauffer, daughter of Paul and Lois Stauffer was born on January 30, 1950 in Canton, Ohio.  The family moved to California where Elaine grew up and graduated from high school.  She lived in a variety of places through out her lifetime including, California, Arizona, Iowa, and Colorado.  While living in Colorado and employed with Wells Fargo, Elaine experienced her first stroke.  She moved to Sioux Falls where she pursued and graduated with a degree in Computer Science at Colorado Technical Institute.  Elaine was working through Experience Works, a federal employment program, at Volunteers of America Dakotas.  During that time she moved to Brandon with help and support from her friends at Volunteers of America, Dakotas.  Shortly after she moved to Brandon was when she experienced her second stroke.  She then moved into Helping Hands Assisted Living Center in Brandon.  She was eventually moved to Good Sam’s Nursing Home in Canastota, SD where she stayed prior to her last hospitalization at Avera Hospital.  Elaine enjoyed reading, movies and vacationing.  She was a vegetarian and enjoyed organic Indian food.  She loved to be with friends, to smile and laugh.  She gave her life to Jesus Christ during her initial days at Good Sam’s.  Passing from this earth to her eternal home with Jesus on June 7th, 2011.

Mary Ezell “Betty” Richardson, age 86, died Thursday, April 21, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Hudson Richardson; her sister, Dorothy Reible and her parents, Kelly and Josephine Ezell. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, David H. and Carol Richardson of Brandon SD, Kelly E. Richardson of Odum, GA; two sisters, Ida Mae Robertson of Alabaster, AL and Kelly Jo Jones of Bessemer, AL; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at Valhalla Cemetery Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 1:00 p.m.. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Bessemer Brown Service Funeral Home, Bessmer, AL.

Margaret M. Lebahn, 89, of Brandon, SD, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at the Sanford Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls, SD.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 29th, 2:30 pm at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery of rural Hartford, SD, with Pastor Kyle Schwan officiating.

Margaret Marie Lewis, daughter of Jesse and Vivienne Lewis, was born on August 25, 1921, near Oldham, SD. The family moved north of Howard, SD when she was in first grade. Margaret graduated from Howard High School and then South Dakota State University with a degree in teaching home economics, math and science. She taught at Madison, Mesa College in Grand Junction, CO, Howard, Canova, DeSmet and Montrose. Margaret married Carl E. Lebahn on May 22, 1954 and later moved to the farm near
Ramona, SD. She was a member of Belleview Luthern Church of rural Howard then St. John’s Lutheran Church of rural Ramona. Margaret resided in Brandon, SD in her later years. Her greatest joy was the love and pride she had for family.

She is survived by her three sons, Merlon (Maribeth), Fred (Diane) and David Lebahn; four daughters, Joy (Chuck) Walen, Alice (Ron) Schmidt, Nancy (Terry) Hanneman, Gwendolyn (Dave) Jackson; sixteen grandchildren, Paul (Julie) Lebahn, Justin (Jody) Lebahn, Katie (Chance) Ragsdale, Morgan (Chris) Piehl, Jim Lebahn, Elizabeth (Jordan) Kannianen, Maria, Adam, Amy and Ashley Walen, Joshua Bohl, Jessica (Chad) Schulte, Kyle Hanneman, Drew (Emily) Jackson, Carly and Benjamin Jackson; ten great-grandchildren, Megan, Gavin, Kylie, Kason, Blake, Brayden, Rachael, Emma, Kirsten and Tristan; two brothers, Elmer (Nyla) Lewis and Allen Lewis; and many nieces, nephews and others she considered her children.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Carl, three sisters; Carol Michaels, Carrie Ann Hansen and Jean Schwartz.

8/18/40 – 3/18/11

Patricia T. (Fairbanks) Holmquist, 70, of Sioux Falls, died Friday, March 18, 2011 at the Dougherty Hospice Home in Sioux Falls.

A family visitation and memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, for Patricia, on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Heartland Funeral Home.

Patricia T. Fairbanks was born on August 18, 1940 to Hyle and Thelma (Anderson) Fairbanks in Puyallup, WA. She was raised and educated in the same area and graduated from high school there. Patricia went on to work for the Rainier State School for the mentally challenged. She was a care giver for over 30 years at the school until her health forced her to retire.

Pat then moved to the Springfield, Missouri area for a few years and then she relocated to Sioux Falls four years ago to be closer to her sons and grandchildren.

Patricia will be dearly missed by her two sons; Mike (Cherie) Connolly and David Connolly, both of Sioux Falls, ten grandchildren, and two brothers; David Fairbanks, Orville, CA and Warren Fairbanks of Ada, OK.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
