Patrick Fenton McDonald was born December 22, 1938, in Madison, SD, to John and Mary (Carmody) McDonald. He was raised in the Madison-Argon area before the family moved to Sioux Falls where he attended Washington High School. After school, Patrick moved to the Kansas area, then to Utah and the west coast region. He worked at several different jobs before he returned to Sioux Falls. On November 26, 1983, he married Martha Alsgaard in Sioux Falls. The couple met where they worked together at the Ramkota Hotel. Patrick worked there for over 20 years. The couple had one son, Alex. Patrick later worked at the Brandon Pizza Ranch for 10 years.

Patrick loved to read. Some of his favorite books were from Louis L’Amour and James Patterson. He also enjoyed watching sports; mostly the Cubs, Bulls, and the Broncos. Patrick really had a special love for Alex and his friends. He spent much of his time helping kids for Special Olympics as a Bench Coach. Patrick also was a member of Beaver Valley Lutheran Church.

Patrick is survived by his wife, Martha; son, Alex of Sioux Falls; and one brother, William (Peggy) McDonald, Sioux Falls.

Patrick is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary (Carmody) McDonald.
