Robert (Bobbie) D. Grush, 87, Sioux Falls, died Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at the Sioux Falls VA Hospital.

Family visitation will be held from 2-4pm, Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Heartland Funeral Home followed by Full Military Honors. Inurnment will be at the Black Hills National Cemetery at a later date.

The family requests that all attendees please dress casual in Bobbie’s honor.

Robert (Bobbie) Grush was born May 26th, 1929 in Sibley, IA, to John Henry and Nellie Ellen (Wier) Grush. He lived his youth in Sibley, IA, where he attended school and graduated in 1948. He enlisted in the United States Navy in October of 1948. During his enlistment, he served in the Korean War aboard the USS Estero and the USS Ryer. He was honorably discharged August 1952. Following his time in the service, he returned to his home town area where he began an apprenticeship and became a master printer. Printing was his lifetime occupation, including employment in Minnesota, California and Montana. Locally, he worked for the Sioux Falls Argus Leader, Avera McKennan Hospital and retired from Midland National Life in 1991. He married Sandra Heath in 1953. From this union, they had two children, Linda and Mike. He married Belinda (Jeffryes) McGary in 1978. From this union, they had three children; JD, Bridget and Shannon. He enjoyed horses, working with hunting dogs and coffee with family and friends at local restaurants.

Those left to cherish his memories are his children, JD Grush, Bridget (Ernest) Grush Wolf, Shannon (Josh) Kelley, Mike (Lisa) Grush, and Linda (Brent) Atkinson; his grandchildren, Whitney, Kessa, Shaelyn, Jace, Brilee, Pres, Eirelynd, Soren, Ryker, Sara, Gordon, Danielle and Christine; and many great-grandchildren.

Bobbie was preceded in death by parents, John Henry and Nellie Ellen (Wier) Grush; and his siblings, Bernice, Emmett, Donald, Mark, LaVerne, LaVaughn, Bette, Maxine and Dorthy.
