Shannon Elizabeth Geraets

Shannon Elizabeth Geraets, 22, Sioux Falls, died Saturday, September 12, 2015, at her home in Sioux Falls.
Memorial services will be 1:30 pm, Thursday, September 17, 2015, at Heartland Funeral Home in Brandon, South Dakota. Visitation begins at 5 pm, Wednesday, September 16th, also at Heartland Funeral Home, with family present to greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
Shannon enjoyed her time at the family business Happy Dog Boarding Kennels playing with the family dogs plus she was a great help to Jerry in the kennel. Another love of Shannon’s was racing. Her Saturdays at I-90 Speedway in Hartford were among her happiest times.
Survivors include Shannon’s parents, Jerry Geraets and Dianne Elizabeth (Anney) Yearous-Geraets, Sioux Falls; three brothers and two sisters; Matt Roan Eagle, Medford Oregon, Danny ( Becky) Geraets, Dell Rapids, Amanda (Mark) Lieble, Dell Rapids, Jeremy(Maranda) Geraets, Colman, and Angie Geraets, Sioux Falls. Shannon is also survived by eight nieces and nephew’s that she was just starting to know. Shannon is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Shannon is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Gary and Irene Geraets; her maternal grandmother, Betty Jane Hinkley; and her paternal grandmother, Zona Bender.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Shannon’s memory to the Sioux Falls Humane Society or in an effort to effect change, a donation to NAMI; the National Association for Mental Illness.

I remember a few years ago working with Shannon on the Optiimist Christmas Tree project. She was always so willing to help and was a diligent helper. I enjoyed working with her very much and admired her. Rest in peace dear Shannon. Prayers and thoughts to her family.
