Timothy Ralph Hansen was born November 3, 1965, in Mitchell, South Dakota. He was adopted by Ralph and Lois Hansen of Valley Springs as an infant, where he was raised and graduated from high school in Hills, Minnesota. Tim met and married Shannon Waring at the Beaver Valley Lutheran Church on August 30, 1986. The couple raised their family while living in Valley Springs.  Tim was a truck driver for several different companies but lastly worked for Building Products Incorporated of Sioux Falls as a safety director and trucking supervisor.

Tim loved the outdoors. He loved to hunt and fish and especially liked taking his children and teaching them the skills a field dressing deer or catching a walleye. He also enjoyed anything to do with farming. Most important to Tim, was his family. He especially enjoyed time visiting with his family and his brothers and sisters just relaxing and hanging out. He enjoyed attending every sporting event for his kids. He coached as well as helped drive his daughter halfway across the country for softball tournaments. He will forever be remembered as the voice of reason for advice, everyday, to his children. He was always there for them. He was even there at night when they needed a ride home. That gained him the nickname, “Uber Dad”.  His grandchildren were also of major importance. “Papa Tim” was everybody’s favorite to sit on his lap or his knee. Tim also volunteered for the Valley Springs Fire Department for several years as well as worked part-time as an EMT for Med-Star in Brandon.

Tim’s children will always remember his steadfast way of sticking to his principles and he let you know where he stood. He was also an awesome provider for his family. He stood by his wife faithfully through sickness and in health; often attending multiple doctor visits with Shannon through her health issues.

Lastly, one of the things Tim was proud of was this 24 years of sobriety. Through many trials in his life, his faith had been strengthened through these moments.

Tim will be deeply missed by his wife of 32 years, Shannon; his father, Ralph Hansen, Hills, MN; four children, Devon (Kelsey Moser), Danielle (Trent) Hartog, Travis, and Nichole, all of Valley Springs; five grandchildren, Kimber, Layne, Shyloe, Aubrey, and Tracey; siblings, Jeff (Kelly) Hansen, Houston, TX, Daryl (Crystal) Green, Mitchell, Melanie (Mike) Kayser, Mitchell, and Shannon Riggs, Mitchell; step-father, Verne Green, Gregory, SD; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Tim was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Hansen; birth mother, Claudette Green; one sister, Lori Hansen; and one brother, David Hansen.
