Tyrell (Terry) Craig Bose was born June 18, 1949, in Slayton, MN, to Norman and Audrey (VanderLee) Bose. He lived on a farm near Woodstock, MN, and attended school in Edgerton. Upon graduation, Terry went to Basic Training in 1968. After Basic, he began his career at the South Dakota Air Natl. Guard, where he would put in 35 years before retiring in 2003. December 1, 1978, he married Nelva TenCate, and he became an instant dad to three small children; Brian, Alison, and Alanna. Soon after that, Amanda was born. As a family, they have fond memories of summer vacations in Northern Minnesota. He then worked for Minnehaha Co. Sheriff’s office as Air Base Security and at the County Jail where one prisoner scolded another for giving Terry a hard time saying “he is one of the Good Guys!” For the next few years, he was at the SD Army Natl. Guard as the Base Security Manager. He also drove a school bus for a few years before he retired permanently. He filled his days running things at home while Nelva worked, riding his Harley, training his puppy, Hope, and wishing he was fishing.

He loved sitting by a campfire at Cutty’s Resort in Okoboji, eating the “Belly Buster Breakfast” at Marlins Grill, and shooting targets with his friends.
He will be remembered for his love of Harleys, Fords, and Boston Terriers, his famous hours of storytelling, the backyard troll-(ask the grandkids), his love of his family and their welfare, right up to the very end, and his faithfulness to his Heavenly Father.

Terry will be deeply missed by his wife, Nelva; his children, Amanda (Brian Kilbride) Bose, Sioux Falls, Alanna (Jeff) VanSanten, Luverne, MN, Alison (Tom) VerSteeg, Luverne, MN, and Brian TenCate, The Colony, TX; six grandchildren, Cade, Lauren, Kelsi, Aiden, Ethan, and Chloe; and three siblings, Robert (Julie) Bose, Sioux Falls, Wendy (Pat) Whalen, St. Paul, MN, and Kristin (Ivan) Vis, Leota, MN.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents.

I’m so sorry to hear of Terry’s passing. I remember him as a very good man. Most of the time I was around he was pretty quiet and east going until Amanda and I did something stupid, then, understandably, he wouldn’t be so quiet anymore. 😉 My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

    Love,

    Lisa

    Nelva and Family,
We were blessed to know Terry. He was a great man, and always made us feel welcome. Our Christmas Eve Chinese dinners with you two were something we always looked forward to. I know the angels are rejoicing with him now. Someday we will see him again. What a glorious day that will be when we can all walk the streets of heaven with Jesus.
