Sharon Faye Bultje

Sharon Bultje, 76, Sioux Falls, died Sunday, March 6, 2022, after a short battle with cancer.
Visitation will be 10:30 am – 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Shalom Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. Please check back as a live streaming link will be provided prior to the service.
Sharon Faye Brunsting was born in Hull, IA, on February 6, 1946, to Gerald and Bessie (Koele) Brunsting. She was raised in the Hull area and graduated from Boyden-Hull High School. She then attended Nettleton Commercial College in Sioux Falls. Sharon was united in marriage to LuVerne Bultje on January 13, 1967, in Hull, IA. She worked for several companies doing clerical work as a secretary, including Calvin Christian School, First Congregational Church, and Sioux Falls School District.
Sharon was an active member of the Shalom Christian Reformed Church. Her largest pleasure in life was her family, her children, and grandchildren, traveling, coffee with a friend, a weekly Starbucks stop, and photography. She was a great cook and liked to bake cookies, desserts, and bars. Her hobbies included counted-cross stitch, which she made and gave away many pieces in her life. She also has made baby samplers for many new babies. She also enjoyed puzzles. Most recently, upon their retirement, Vern and Sharon loved wintering in Mesa, AZ.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Vern; three sons, Christopher (Randi), Mound, MN, Galen (Tua), Nashville, TN, and Terry (Kari), Sioux Falls; six grandchildren, Mason, Tessa (Zach), Breanna, Anavie, Kaitlyn and Trevor; two brothers, Roger (Rachael) Brunsting, Orange City, IA, and Cliff (Deb) Brunsting, Gilbert, AZ; and many nephews, nieces, and brothers and sisters-in-law.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Bessie (Koele) Brunsting; and one son, Craig Bultje.
There haven’t been many times in my life that I’m at a loss for words, but here we are… Sharon has been a part of my life/our family almost as long as I can remember. She was an amazing person, and she will be dearly missed. My heart is breaking, not only for her family, but for all of us who will miss her. At times, Sharon was kind of a second mom to my sisters and me–although Colleen was the only one who actually called her “mom” on the phone, ha ha! I can’t even imagine how many people were touched by her love. Personally, she was there for me during one of the worst times in my life, and I will never forget it. The beautiful cross stitches she made me when both of my girls were born are still prominently displayed on my walls, and I still laugh when I think of the game we played where I had a whole pack of gum in my mouth during my bridal shower at her house. I will hold her memory and the example she set close to my heart. Mr B, you and the whole family are in my prayers, and I’m sending you a big hug. Rest easy, Sharon. We love you.
