David Jerome Ziemer

May 7, 1955 – October 29, 2010

David Jerome Ziemer, 55, passed away on Friday, October 29, 2010, at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. He was born on May 7, 1955, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota to Delmer and Nancy Ziemer. On September 9, 1978 he was united in marriage to Robin Matz. They have lived in Sioux Falls for the last 32 years.

David dedicated his life to Jehovah on March 31, 1971.

David was well known for the role he played in the construction of around 70 Kingdom Halls through out South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri over the last 27 years. He enjoyed landscaping, not just at the Hall builds, but also as a hobby. Serving as an elder in the congregation and helping his fellow brothers and sisters was something David dearly loved. His sense of humor and quick wit endeared him to everyone over the years. He also loved to read and could often be found with his nose in a book.

David is survived by his wife, Robin, his daughter, Nicole, his son, Michael, his parents, Delmer and Nancy; 3 brothers and a sister.

Maria “Lola” Dolores Vargas

May 21, 1950 – October 12, 2010

Maria “Lola” D. Vargas, 60, of Sioux Falls, died Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Avera McKennan hospital after an accident at her home.

Maria Dolores Vargas was born May 21st, 1950 to Valentin and Salud (Cena) Vargas in Villachauto, Michoacan, Mexico. She was raised and educated through sixth grade in Villachauto. In 1970, Maria married Israel Araujo. This union was blessed with her two children; Laura and Thomas. The family moved to the United States (San Fernando, CA) in 1976 where Maria worked at home to raise her children. She spent much of her time cooking, cleaning, and even a little sewing. Eventually, Maria moved to South Dakota. She began working for the John Morrell plant in Sioux Falls in about 1993. Maria’s joy in life was talking to people on her phone. She would spend hours catching up with everyone on what was going on in their lives. Maria was also a very caring and loving grandmother and will be missed by her grandchildren.

Maria will be missed by her daughter, Laura (Joe) Araujo-Sanchez, Somerset, TX, and son, Thomas (Marissa) Araujo, Grand Island, NE; six grandchildren: Alexiz, Ivianna, and Aryanni Sanchez, Matthew, Vanessa, and Bernice Araujo; one brother, Angel Vargas; three sisters, Jesus Vargas, Consuelo Vargas-all of Villachuato, Mexico and Maria Vargas of Marshalltown, IA; and her very special friend, Martin Guiterrez, of Sioux Falls, and many nieces
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation for Maria will be held on Saturday, October 16th, from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Heartland Funeral Home in Brandon, SD. Funeral services and internment will be in Villachuato, Michoacan, Mexico at a later date.
