Frances B. Gibbens, 64, Luverne, MN, died Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, MN.

Visitation with family present will be 5-7pm, Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Heartland Funeral Home, Brandon, with a Prayer Service at 7pm.

Frances Beatrice Simmons was born on August 15, 1958, in Ottumwa, IA, to Wilma (Covert) Simmons. Fran graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1978, as Valedictorian-Top of her class. She attended India Hills Community College in Ottumwa, IA, and received her Certified Nursing Assistant Degree. She continued her nursing career for several years in Ottumwa and Sioux Falls. Fran met the love of her life, Orville “Gene” Gibbens, and was united in marriage on June 8, 1980, in Ottumwa, IA. This union brought them two sons; Brian and Bradley. Fran also worked as an Electric Specialist, at Lucas Products in Lucas, IA, and at Raven Industries, in Sioux Falls, SD.

Fran’s favorite things to do were crocheting and cooking. She loved to make cinnamon rolls and deviled eggs for her family. What she enjoyed most of all, was spending time with her boys, grandchildren, and family. 

Grateful for having shared her life with Orville “Gene” Gibbens, Humboldt, SD, two sons, Brian E. (Trina) Gibbens, Luverne, MN, and Bradley D. (Jody) Gibbens, Humboldt, SD; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; one brother-in-law, Ben Gibbens (Connie), Harrisburg, SD; two sisters-in-law, Shirley (Stuart) Thury, Sioux Falls, SD, and Tina Gibbens, Sioux Falls, SD; and one uncle, Ronnie Covert, St. Robert’s, MO.

Fran was preceded in death by her mother, Wilma D. Covert; two siblings; her grandparents; her mother-in-law and father-in-law; and two brothers-in-law.
