Terry Henry Metzger was born June 14, 1967, in Sioux Falls, to Bill and Marlene Metzger. He grew up with his two brothers on the east side of Sioux Falls and attended Brandon Valley Schools. When Terry was finished with school, he began working a variety of jobs in and around the area as a mechanic and a handyman. There wasn’t anything that he couldn’t fix or figure out. Terry was also a very active member of the Splitrock Fire Dept. for several years as well as belonged to the local Civil Air Patrol. Terry also loved to ride his Harley and hang out with his bike club family/friends.
Terry will be deeply missed by his son, Tony (Brandi) Sutter, Harrisburg; mother, Marlene Metzger, Sioux Falls; two brothers, Jeff (Kristi) Metzger, Sioux Falls and Jim (Wendy) Metzger, Brandon; and five nieces, Tiffany, Kaycee, Kenzie, Angel, and Amanda.
Terry was preceded in death by his father, William H. Metzger.
A memorial has been established in Terry’s honor.
My family met Terry when he came to work at Great Bear. He gave my dad, Bill Engel, grief while making snow, but that was just Terry, we all got along GREAT with him. I still ran into him from time to time and was am glad to have had him as a friend. He would unexpectantly stop by parents house, which they enjoyed. Terry was a part of the ‘Good Old, Great Bear Family’. He will be missed.
