Vincent Patrick Turgeon, 67, Tea, SD, died Friday, August 7, 2015, at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Vincent Patrick Turgeon was born July 30, 1948 in Sioux Falls. He attended parochial school in Sioux Falls and then graduated from Washington High before he was drafted into the Army to go to Viet Nam. Before Vincent left, he married his high school sweetheart, Joan Helwig, on March 16, 1968. The couple was blessed with two children; Barry and Barbara. Upon Vincent’s return, the family moved to Alexandria, MN while Vincent attended some schooling and then they moved on to Sioux City and eventually settled in Omaha. Vincent was a sales person and worked very hard selling medical supplies. In 2001, he retired and moved back to Tea, SD, to peruse his passion for cars. He is known for having a shop that holds more tools than “normal” mechanics. He even went back to school to learned how to do auto body restoration.

Vince’s first love was his family and especially his grandkids. They would go to Falls Park and play or take pictures or attend trips to the Butterfly House. His sense of humor was infectious and he joked right up to the end with stories. His optimistic and positive attitude made his cancer treatment easy on his family and friends because it was his desire not to be a burden or to ever give up.

Vincent will be deeply missed by his children, Barbara (Brent) Hoffart, Omaha and Barry (Kelly) Turgeon, Omaha, NE; six grandchildren, Emma, Jayden, Ethan, Lauren, Drew, and Harper; and seven siblings, Paul (Eileen), Ohio, Mark (Shelia), Sioux Falls, Tony (Joan), Sioux Falls, Scott, Sioux Falls, Donna (Don) Woldt, Wentworth, Linda (Bob) Larsen, Sioux Falls, and Mary Thompson, Tea.

Vincent was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial has been established.

Pat was a true warrior and will be missed. I’m so glad I was able to reconnect with Pat in recent years, we had some great times going to Husker football games and hanging out into the early hours the night before the games. I will miss his stories and his smile. Rest in peace Pat.
