Tom Lytle Wheeler

August 6, 1956 ~ March 28, 2022

Tom L. Wheeler, 65, of Huron, passed away peacefully at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls on March 28, 2022, after he suffered a massive heart attack on March 6th.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time. Please check back for updates.

Tom Lytle Wheeler was born in Huron SD on August 6th, 1956 to Donald and Lois (Byerly) Wheeler.  He attended school in Huron. Tom married Juli Johnson in 1976 and from that union, their daughter Kristen was born. Tom was an owner-operator of his own big rig trucking all over the US.

Tom enjoyed NASCAR racing, watching golf, and mostly a good visit with his friends over a cold one.  Over the last couple of years, he spent more time with his brother Kim, in Piedmont SD.

Tom is survived by his daughter, Kristen (Travis) Maasen; two grandchildren, Layton and McKenna; one brother, Steve (Peggy) Wheeler, Muscatine, IA; many nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins; and a special friend, Janet Schinderling.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents Donald and Lois Wheeler, and his big brother, Kim Wheeler.

Lois Larrane Eikmeier-Graham

November 8, 1938 ~ March 30, 2022

Lois L. Eikmeier-Graham, 83, Brandon, SD, died on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at the Bethany Home in Brandon, SD.

Memorial Services will be 11am, Monday, April, 4, 2022, at Heartland Funeral Home, Brandon, SD, with visitation beginning at 10am.  Burial to follow at Holland Cemetery, Holland, MN.

Lois Larrane Brink was born on November 9, 1938, in Rock Township, rural Holland, Minnesota, to Magnus and Gesine (Lichtsinn) Brink. Lois was baptized and confirmed at the St. James Lutheran Church in Holland, MN. She attended Rural School District #45 for Grades 1-8, and Pipestone High School, graduating in May 1956.

Lois married Edward W. Eikmeier on September 2, 1956, in Holland, MN. Lois became a member of Salem United Methodist Church in rural Pipestone, where she was active in Ladies Aid and other church work. They lived and farmed southwest of Pipestone until 1981 when they moved into Pipestone. They divorced in December 1981. Lois attended Minnesota West College Pipestone Campus in 1982, graduating in 1983 with a degree in accounting. Lois moved to Sioux Falls and worked in a daycare for one year before becoming a licensed property manager for Babinski Properties for 18 years. She belonged to the South Dakota Multiple Housing Association. On June 23, 1995, Lois married Oscar E. Graham in Sioux Falls, SD. Lois retired in April 2003 and moved to Brandon, SD. She entered Bethany Home in March of 2022. Lois enjoyed being with her family, her very special grandson, Cody, and step-grandchildren, Samantha, Hannah, and Daniel Graham. Lois enjoyed fishing, bowling, and helping her brothers and sisters when possible.  

Lois is survived by her husband, Oscar, Brandon; three daughters, Cynthia (Jerry) Steiner, Fulda, MN, Tamara (Rick) Powell, Brandon, and Jane (Steve) Tiedeman, Woodstock, MN; grandson, Cody (Heather) Powell, Brandon; great-granddaughter, Hadley Elaine Powell, Brandon; one brother, Delbert (Jean) Brink, Worthington, MN; one sister, Esther Babcock, Monroe, NY; three step-children, Travis Graham, Sioux Falls, Terry Graham, Madison, SD, and Tasha (Roger) Graham, Madison, SD; three step-grandchildren, Samantha, Hannah, and Daniel Graham; and three great-step-grandsons, Brennon Dicus, Calvin Graham, and Bryson Ahlers.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Marie Brink-Schnepf, Viola Brink-Jagt, and Meta Brink Terhark; and two brothers, Andrew Brink, and Alvin Brink.

Mark Lynn Fattig

December 16, 1951 ~ March 25, 2022

Mark L. Fattig, 70, Tea, SD, formally of Brady, NE, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022, unexpectedly at his home.

A private memorial service will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022, at 10:00 am, at Gaslin Cemetery, near Brady, NE. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up to assist his family with expenses.  Cards may be sent to Mark Fattig % Heartland Funeral Home – PO Box 451, Brandon, SD, 57005 or directly to his family.

Mark Lynn Fattig was born December 16, 1951, in Alliance, NE, to Dale and Marian (Hoaglund) Fattig. Growing up, Mark loved hunting, fishing, and working with hunting dogs. 

Mark held a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Nebraska and a Master’s in Psychology from Fort Hays State University. In college, Mark was known for his hilarious sense of humor and profound intellect. He enjoyed frequent debates about psychology with university faculty. After graduation, Mark worked as a psychologist and ran a business selling finished hunting dogs, traveling as far as New Mexico to deliver a finished bear-hunting dog. Later, Mark transitioned to working as a product specialist for Cabella’s, which he enjoyed for many years.

Mark loved to grill, and he became very interested in smoked meats towards the end of his life. He generously shared them with friends, family, and neighbors. 

Mark is survived by his former wife, Mary (Woitaszewski) Fattig; daughter, Elissa (Jon) Heibel, and son, Edwin Fattig; two grandchildren, Steven and Cara Heibel; two brothers, Roger (Melanie) Fattig and Bruce (Ann) Fattig, and three sisters, Susan (John) Grasser, Sharon Johnson, and Carol (Barry) Rich.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents.

Miguel Angel Nunez

May 31, 1978 ~ March 20, 2022

Miguel A. Nunez, 43, Sioux Falls, passed away on March 20, 2022.

A Celebration of Life-Memorial Service will be held from 9 am – 1 pm, on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Sendero de Salvacion Church (2015 W. Milwaukee Ave.), Storm Lake, IA.

Miguel Angel Nunez was born May 31, 1978, in Chicago, IL, to Jose M. and Maria Isabel (Tovar) Nunez. He was the second of 4 children. He lived most of his childhood in Mexico, and moved to Storm Lake, IA, when he was a teenager. He later moved to Sioux Falls.

Miguel really enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his loved ones. He will always be remembered for his outgoing, but at times impatient, personality and always a noble heart. He was adventurous and brave.

He will always be remembered by his parents, Jose and Maria Nunez, Storm Lake, IA; six children, Jonathan Nunez, Criston Nunez, Donarie Nunez, Miguel Angel Nunez, Jr., Genesis Nunez, and Ariel Nunez; three sisters, Pily Nunez, Adelina Nunez, and Julia Rios; brothers-in-law, Jaime Martinez, Edgar Martinez, and Roberto Rios; nine nieces and nephews, Jose Angel Nunez, Roberto Martinez, Edgar Nunez, Jose Martinez, Hugo Martinez, Alondra Martinez, Arianna Rios, Alexa Rios, and Roman Rios; and other extended family and friends.

Miguel Angel Nunez de 43 años, falleció el 20 de Marzo del 2022 Nacido en Chicago, Illinois.El 31 de mayo de 1978.Hizo parte de su escuela en México y otra parte en Storm Lake Iowa. Miguel disfrutaba mucho de pescar, acampar y pasar tiempo en familia.Siempre será recordado por su personalidad inquieta, pero a la vez noble de corazón. Wesley Keith Rodvik

August 24, 1948 ~ February 23, 2022

Wesley Keith Rodvik, age 73, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away in his home on February 23, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Delna Dolores Beckstrom

April 8, 1929 ~ March 11, 2022

Delna D. Beckstrom 92, Sioux Falls, departed her loving family, on March 11, 2022, to meet her Lord and Savior, at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls.

A Private, Family Memorial Service will be held Sunday, March 13, 2022. Sympathy cards may be mailed to Gordon Beckstrom at 4613 E. Fernwood Dr. Sioux Falls, 57110.

Delna Dolores Muller was born on April 8, 1929, in Monroe, South Dakota, to parents, Lucas and Minnie (Doeden) Muller. Delna graduated from Monroe High School in 1947.  After graduation, she moved to Sioux Falls and worked as a telephone operator at Bell Telephone. Delna and her husband, Gordon married on March 17, 1949.  Delna and Gordon took many nice trips over the years including Hawaii, Mexico, and Canada.  They took many camping family vacations and also wintered in their snowbird Florida home.  When the children grew older Delna worked for Gene’s Studio. They celebrated almost 73 years of marriage.  She was a devoted wife and mother and raised her children with love.

Delna was an excellent homemaker and decorator.  She was well known for her famous potato salad and roast beef dinners!  She was also an avid crafter, knitting many beautiful afghans.  She was an accomplished piano player.   She loved to attend class and family reunions.”

Sadly, Delna, 92, of Sioux Falls, departed her loving family, on March 11, 2022, to meet her Lord and Savior, at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls.

Delna is survived by her husband, Gordon; four children, Jan Bullock, Longview, TX, Stanley (Carol) Beckstrom, Hartford, Richard (Beverly) Beckstrom, Sioux Falls, Shawn Jorgensen, Sioux Falls; ten grandchildren, Gregg Miner, Beth Duncan, Sarah Walter, Gwen Hulinsky, Benjamin Beckstrom, Chad Beckstrom, Joseph Beckstrom, Christa Jorgensen-Bronzynski, Tyler Jorgensen, and Hannah Jorgensen; 18 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Carole Beier Thelen, Redfield, SD.

Delna was preceded in death by her parents, along with one infant daughter, Kimberly Rae Beckstrom. 

Sharon Faye Bultje

February 6, 1946 ~ March 6, 2022

Sharon Bultje, 76, Sioux Falls, died Sunday, March 6, 2022, after a short battle with cancer.

Visitation will be 10:30 am – 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Shalom Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. Please check back as a live streaming link will be provided prior to the service. 

Sharon Faye Brunsting was born in Hull, IA, on February 6, 1946, to Gerald and Bessie (Koele) Brunsting. She was raised in the Hull area and graduated from Boyden-Hull High School. She then attended Nettleton Commercial College in Sioux Falls. Sharon was united in marriage to LuVerne Bultje on January 13, 1967, in Hull, IA. She worked for several companies doing clerical work as a secretary, including Calvin Christian School, First Congregational Church, and Sioux Falls School District. 

Sharon was an active member of the Shalom Christian Reformed Church. Her largest pleasure in life was her family, her children, and grandchildren, traveling, coffee with a friend, a weekly Starbucks stop, and photography. She was a great cook and liked to bake cookies, desserts, and bars. Her hobbies included counted-cross stitch, which she made and gave away many pieces in her life. She also has made baby samplers for many new babies. She also enjoyed puzzles. Most recently, upon their retirement, Vern and Sharon loved wintering in Mesa, AZ. 

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Vern; three sons, Christopher (Randi), Mound, MN, Galen (Tua), Nashville, TN, and Terry (Kari), Sioux Falls; six grandchildren, Mason, Tessa (Zach), Breanna, Anavie, Kaitlyn and Trevor; two brothers, Roger (Rachael) Brunsting, Orange City, IA, and Cliff (Deb) Brunsting, Gilbert, AZ; and many nephews, nieces, and brothers and sisters-in-law.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Bessie (Koele) Brunsting; and one son, Craig Bultje.

Ralph Delmer Hansen

August 7, 1930 ~ February 21, 2022

Ralph D. Hansen 91, formerly Valley Springs, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 21, 2022, at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, MN. 

A Visitation with family present will be 5pm-7pm, Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Spirit of Truth Lutheran Church in Brandon, SD. Funeral Services will be 10:30 am, Friday, February 25, 2022, also at the church. Interment will follow at Beaver Valley Lutheran Church Cemetery. Ralph Delmer Hansen was born in Redfield, South Dakota, on August 7, 1930, to James and Leda (Lundstrom) Hansen.  He graduated from Valley Springs High School (Class of 1949).  He married Lois Joneson on June 9, 1950, at Beaver Valley Lutheran Church in rural Valley Springs, SD.  At the time of his passing, Ralph was a resident of the TUFF Memorial Home of Hills, MN.

Ralph enjoyed farming and driving his truck.  He was a long-time employee of DeKalb, Agriculture in Brandon, SD.  He farmed in Iowa, Minnesota, and South Dakota.  Ralph also enjoyed fishing and had taken trips to Canada to fish.  He also enjoyed his grandchildren’s sporting events by attending numerous baseball and softball games as they grew up. 

After retirement from farming and truck driving, Ralph and Lois traveled to Texas to spend time with their son, Jeff, and his family, during the winter, and also “snow birded” to Phoenix, AZ, several times.   

Ralph is survived by his son, Jeffrey, (wife Kelly Marts); and granddaughter, Lee; daughter-in-law, Shannon (Waring) Hansen; four grandchildren, Devon, Danielle (husband Trent), Travis (fiancé Lindsey), and Nichole; great-grandchildren, Kimber (Devon), Layne and Shyloe (Danielle), Aubrey, Rieghker, Tracey, Sterling, and Bohdi (Travis); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ralph is preceded in death by his wife, Lois; sons, David and Timothy; and daughter, Lori; his parents, James and Leda; four brothers, Edward, Clyde, James, and Harvey; and one sister, Elsie.

Erwell Charles “Chuck” Schroder

June 30, 1938 ~ February 13, 2022

Erwell Charles “Chuck” Schroder, 83, Brandon, died Sunday, February 13, 2022, at the Avera McKennan Hospital after recent health issues.

Visitation with the family will be 11 am, Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Heritage Lutheran Church, Brandon.  A Celebration of Life will begin at 1pm followed by Full Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Chuck’s memory.

Chuck Schroder was born on June 30, 1938, to Erwell and Violet (Mares) Schroder, in Pontiac, Michigan, and raised in Elgin, Illinois, where he graduated high school. He then attended North Dakota State University to play football. He entered the Army on April 23, 1959, and served in the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge, he married the love of his life, Lois Hansen on July 6, 1963, in Pipestone. They moved to Denver, CO, for his job at Beneficial Finance, and eventually moved back to Renner, SD, when he took a job with the SBA, working in the Agri-Business Banking sector.  In 1970, the family moved to Brandon, where they raised their two children, Tina and Jeff. Upon his retirement, Chuck worked for Sunshine Foods.

Chuck was involved in many things, but his first love was his wife, Lois. They loved to travel and went on many trips and vacations. Camping was their main love and they did this as much as possible. Chuck and Lois also loved going out for dinner together and often times would celebrate holidays and anniversaries at their favorite restaurants.

Chuck’s second love was his family, especially his grandkids. He loved his granddaughters very much and bragged about them all of the time. He referred to them as “my two girls.” He attended all of their softball games and tournaments, hockey matches, and, graduations. He loved to attend state basketball tournaments to watch his son, Jeff, referee. Chuck also umpired amateur baseball and high school football. Chuck was also an outdoorsman.  He loved to hunt deer and fish. His yearly trip with Sunshine’s annual fishing trip was a highlight for over forty years, that has led to many lifelong friendships and memories. His deer hunting buddies out on the ranch West River, are also another group that he considered his extended family.

Chuck will always be remembered as a servant friend.  He was generally found moving snow, raking leaves, and mowing lawns for his neighbors and friends that needed help or were otherwise busy.  He spent several years as a youth sponsor for the church youth groups, attending several camps and youth retreats. Chuck was also a lifelong member of the Sioux Falls East Side Kiwanis Club. He and Lois and his family participated in many years of summer and winter Kiwanis conventions and retreats. Chuck was also an active member of the Isaac Walton League.

Chuck was an active member of Brandon Lutheran Church and then later, Heritage Lutheran Church.

Chuck will be deeply missed by his wife, Lois; his daughter, Tina Spielmann, Brandon; his son, Jeff (Larissa) Schroder, Brandon; two granddaughters, Jayde and Gaby, both of Brandon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Erwell and Violet (Mares) Schroder; and one sister, Susan.

John Victor Boehmer

February 15, 1950 ~ February 7, 2022

John V. Boehmer, 71, Brandon, died Monday, February 7, 2022, at the Lennox Good Samaritan Nursing Home after recent health issues.

Visitation with the family will begin at 9:30 am, Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Brandon Assembly of God Church.  A Celebration of Life will begin at 10:30 am followed by burial at the SD State Veteran’s Cemetery at Noon.  A reception will begin at 1 pm at the Brandon VFW.

John Victor Boehmer was born in Parkston, SD, to Joe & Mary (Young) Boehmer on February 15, 1950. John grew up outside of Parkston on the family farm with his four siblings. John graduated from Parkston High School in 1968 and was drafted into the US Army at age 19. John, an Airborne Ranger, proudly served in the Vietnam War from 1970 – 1971, with N Company, 75th Ranger Battalion, of the 173rd Airborne Brigade. John was the recipient of many medals including the Combat Infantryman’s Badge and the Bronze Star with Valor. 

John was united in marriage to Pat Landreth on November 3, 1973. They raised two daughters, Shawna Boehmer and Amy Lawrence, in Brandon, SD. John and Pat were steadfast in continuing family gatherings centered around their daughters that continued through grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

John worked hard his whole life. For most of his working years, he was self-employed with his painting company, Eastern Plains Painting. Despite attempts to retire, John continued to paint until his health did not allow.

John accepted Christ as his Savior, which led his family to Christ, igniting their love and passion for the Lord.  John enjoyed hunting, traveling, and most of all, spending time with his family and grandbabies. Despite his words failing at the end, John continued to share his overwhelming love of family and country.

John will be deeply missed by his two daughters, Shawna Boehmer (fiancé – Chad Medema), Brandon, and Amy (Kevin) Lawrence, Brandon; five grandchildren, Breanna (Kendrick) Hart, Sioux Falls, Brayden Boehmer, Brandon, and Mariana, Phinley, and Paizley Lawrence, Brandon; five great-grandchildren, Cecilia, Bryleigh, Veda, Khloe, and Aaliyah; four siblings, Jeanne (Ron) Young, Lake Vermillion, Morrie Boehmer, Sioux Falls, Kristi Boehmer, Parkston, and Nancy Hohn, Parkston; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mary (Young) Boehmer.
